Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties is the third in a series of fun adventures for children by author Dav Pilkey, channeling the writing and drawing of two grade-school boys called George and Harold. Dog Man, heroic combo of police man and police dog, battles to keep the city safe from a very bad orange cat called Petey. It was Petey’s evil schemes which created Dog Man in the first place when he blew up police officer Knight and his dog Greg with a well-placed bomb. In Dog Man Unleashed, Petey created a duplicate of himself to help him get out of jail, causing double the mayhem. In this third book the mad pace continues when Petey escapes from jail again. Back in his lab, he’s fed up with all the tidying up needed for the messy business of making new evil inventions. He decides to create a duplicate of himself (again) to handle the boring drudgery parts of his life, an evil double who is also going to do whatever Petey says – because he IS Petey.
Meanwhile, the villainous fish Flippy who died in the previous story becomes the subject of interest to scientists who want to study his genius brain now that he is safely deceased. Dog Man is assigned to guard them and make sure nothing goes wrong. All you need to know about the possibilities for (mis)adventure is that nearby where the dead Flippy is being examined is a factory that makes ‘Living Gas’, capable of animating or indeed REanimating anything. And their security procedures are not the tightest.
Dog Man: A Tale of Two Kitties has the same winning mix as before of funny characters in ridiculous scenarios that only become more nonsensical as they go on, leading to hugely silly and dramatically amusing endings that children will love. The bonus features at the end of this book include lessons on how to draw all the main characters, plus a look at how to improve your reading skills by reading to a dog: proven by completely true, actual peer-reviewed scientific research! Next in the Dog Man series is Dog Man and Cat Kid.
