If there was a thought that Bryce Ingman and Mark Russell might have said everything they had to about superheroes and their foibles in My Bad Vol. 1, it’s rapidly dispelled. The sample art shows an assassin targeting superheroes, although dumb enough to mistake one elderly Mort Spidderman for Spider-Man.

Last time the Chandelier was publicly exposed and forced into retirement, but when you’re not taking things too seriously, it’s a small matter to reverse the circumstances. As before one story strand follows him, while the other reconnects with former villain Emperor King, although this time there’s more crossover than previously. More ridiculous super powered characters turn up, including a super strong former President who’s travelled through time, Foolface, and Monkey Boy to complement Acid Chimp. Meanwhile, as the killer is disguising themselves as a pizza delivery boy, we see the unfortunate, but funny fates of many mistaken for the murderer. “In my day people didn’t ask whether they were going to be murdered by an angry mob, they just went to work”, comments a helpful news anchor. Those targets, by the way, don’t include those rounded up by the Chandelier for interrogation.

Because the formula established in the first My Bad worked so well, it’s repeated and expanded here. There’s more stylish underplayed art from Peter Krause, more silly ads and pin-up pages drawn by Joe Orsak, and single page text stories offering the personal views of assorted heroes. There is a plot, but it’s wafer thin hanging for the series of ridiculous situations, dialogue and illustrations featuring the most dysfunctional costumed heroes ever. If you enjoyed the first helping, you’re going to be pumped for this, and if you’ve not read either there’s a real treat in store.
